Music
It is our hope and belief that all students at Sexton Mountain have the potential to be successful in the music classroom. All students attend music three times per every eight school days for a 45 minute period.
Program Goals
During music, students will explore, practice, create and perform elements of music through singing, movement, listening, reading, creating and playing instruments. Music is an important part of our students' education for many reasons. They build self-esteem through performance based activities, learn to appreciate other cultures and history, gain appreciation for how the fine arts are intertwined, discover creativity, and learn good practice methods. Students will actively experience brain development in the from of learning to regulate their social and emotional relationships, both interpersonally and intrapersonally. Most importantly, we want to teach our students to love and appreciate music. We feel so honored to have the chance to share music with all Sexton Mountain students.
